...and the part that holds the battery in broke off. Whatever, I made due with what I had. Until today. Today I took my camera out to take a picture because, as my last post would indicate, I'm back in the crafting game. I in fact did take a picture. I then left the camera on just in case I needed to capture some odd thing that Maddie would surely do. Of course because I was prepared, she acted like a normal cat-being, meowed at me and then went and found a place to sleep. So I finish my craft, and go to get my camera to take a photo for this here blog, only to find that the stupid thing is now broken. It appears that it has turned off...with the zoomed lens still out!? Ok...I will just press the power button...nothing. Maybe I need to push the battery in harder? Nope, nothing. Surely the battery has just died. I plug it into the charger...and nope still nothing! On a last ditch attempt I connected to my computer even though I know this wont work because the computer only recognizes the camera when it's on. And guess what? It didn't work!
So here I am cameraless and with no proof that I actually made something today. Moop.

Of course it would take a trip to the South...
... to yank me out of my funk and make me crave crafting again. I don't know what it was, but lately I have been procrastinating crafting. Can't you tell? I mean my last post was about stitching back up a thumb hole, hardly a craft. I started crafting to keep me busy for those 5-6 hours between when I get home from work and when I go to bed. I thought it would be a good way to do something productive and keep my mind off of the fact that I am 22 and living by myself in Pacific Grove where I am pretty sure the median age is 85...Anyways I once again found myself coming home from work, putting my PJs on, eating some soup and reading blogs instead of crafting and blogging myself. Then it was time for my trip to San Antonio Texas.
Fast forward to San Antonio. Fast forward again to the day that my mom and I decided we were going to spend the day doing, and experiencing, things that we can't here in Northern California. It was this magical day that I discovered the Wal-Mart Superstore as well as that magical, magical place Hobby Lobby!!!! Now don't get me wrong, I've been to a Wal-Mart before. But Wal-Mart out here is totally different than Wal-Mart down there. There it's a way of life, everyone shops there and they are kept clean just like Whole Foods. Here, well here they are dirty and they smell.
So how did these places put that spark of crafting determination back into me? Well I'm sure the $2.99-$4.99 a yard fabric didn't hurt. You see, my local Beverly's (probably the only place to get fabric within 100 mile radius of my house) has fabric for the low low price of $9.99 a yard. Do you see the difference!? Of course, hardcore crafters are probably cringing and sticking their noses up at my bargain bin fabric, but lets face it, I'm not trying to quilt a quilt for the Smithsonian. So now that I have oodles of fabric I realize I actually need to do something with it. So what is the first project I am going to work on now that I have reaffirmed my relationship with crafting?
And now onto something more exciting, a look at my loot!

- Finish knitting grey ruffle scarf
- Fortune cookie apron for my mom
- Quilted pillow top using the 4 companion fabrics from Hobby Lobby for the apartment I surely should be getting soon with Matt
- Figure out something else to do with the oodles and oodles of fabrics I have!
And now onto something more exciting, a look at my loot!
Maddie, the cat I share my apartment with and whose every need I tend to, can't help but check out my new sewing box. I am keeping all of my fabric that has yet to be used in here. This thing is packed to the rim. Until I finish some projects and use up more fabric, no more fabric shopping for me :( Oh, and for the two of you who read this blog, you know, but for any one else who may care, Maddie got to stay with Matt the week I was gone. That cat has more luggage than I do.
The fabrics and the tote bag pattern that I bought (rather, mommy bought for me) from the non-smelly Wal-Mart and the Hobby Lobby. Each will be featured in more detail when a they transform into a craft.
I will write more about Hobby Lobby later because it was just that magical that it deserves its own post. Don't be surprised if that post turns into an open letter for them to open a Hobby Lobby up here in the Bay Area. Also, I wouldn't be mad if you decided to buy me this

I've always wondered why sweaters come with...
...a little piece of yarn around the price tag. That was, until Matt asked me to fix his glove. He said there was a hole in the thumb. Maybe he had snagged it on something? Oh no, when he said hole in the thumb, he really meant that the tip of the thumb had come unraveled (think fingerless gloves...) Luckily, it had only begun to unravel, and the loops for the yarn to go through were still intact so it would be a pretty simple fix - all I would have to do is thread the yarn through the loops, pull tight, knot and viola!
Well, that would have been simple if I had yarn. Of course, as a crafter I do have yarn, but not that ultra thin yarn that only mass manufactured knitted products use. I had remembered one of my recent sweater purchases came with a bit of extra yarn on the price tag (and because it seems everything I own is grey and said gloves were grey it would have been perfect!), but of course I had just cleaned before Matt arrived for the weekend so I think it disappeared into the trash.
Plan B. I didn't think thread would look as nice as yarn would, so I thought for a minute and then I remembered my early days of knitting with cheap polyester yarn that would come unraveled. So I went and got some of my (grey!) yarn and cut a little bit off and unraveled it. I then used 1 piece (remember polyester yarn appears to be 3 pieces wrapped together) and threaded it through the largest eyed needle I have. I weaved it through the loops that were still there, pulled tight and it looked good as new! Except, I may or may not have missed one of the loops...oops!
All in all it appears that it worked, but we shall see one Matt actually wears it. One concern I have is that the yarn I used was pretty weak once unraveled, so hopefully it doesn't come undone again. If it does, I may just have to buy a new grey sweater so I can get that thin thread that comes wrapped around the price tag :)
